Son of Monte Cristo (1940): In 1865, the visiting Count of Monte Cristo must defend the Balkan Grand Duchess Zona from the ruthless dictator General Gurko Lannan, who plans to seize power by forced marriage. The Count masquerades as both a foppish banker and a masked freedom fighter known as "The Torch" to lead a rebellion and save the country.
