Murder With Music (1941) This all-Black cast "race film" is a musical mystery set in a lively nightclub. When the piano player, Louis, is murdered by a knife-throwing assailant during a show, suspicion falls on Mike, an escaped convict who is the boyfriend of the club's beautiful singer, Lola. A nosy reporter tries to pin the crime on Mike to get the story and win Lola's affection, leading to a tangled case of mistaken identity and plenty of musical performances.
